Areas of Experience and Interest

I’ve worked as a therapist across a range of settings, including mindfulness organisations, community-based services, alternative-to-crisis support and workplace wellbeing.

These different settings have given me experience of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds, with different experiences, difficulties and reasons for coming to therapy. I’m open to working with anyone who feels therapy might be helpful, and I’m interested in understanding what brings each person to therapy rather than assuming one approach will fit everyone.

Alongside this broad experience, I have particular interests in:

Students and people in their 20s and 30s

Completing my PGCE and working within a university setting have given me a particular interest in working with students and people in their 20s and 30s. It can be a significant time of change, with questions around identity, independence, relationships, the future and comparison with others.

Workplace-related issues

Having previously worked with workplace referrals, I’ve seen how changes or difficulties at work can affect much more than our working lives. They can bring up questions around identity, confidence, relationships and our sense of security, as well as experiences and patterns from elsewhere in our lives. Work is often closely tied to our identity, purpose and livelihood, so it can be an important part of what we explore in therapy.

Relationships

Relationships are a fundamental part of our lives. From an early age, we are influenced by the relationships around us and develop ways of relating to other people. We can find ourselves repeating familiar patterns, taking on particular roles or responding in ways we don’t fully understand.

I’m particularly interested in exploring these patterns, understanding where they come from and how they affect our relationships. I’m also interested in the therapeutic relationship itself, and how the way we relate to each other in therapy can help us notice and understand these patterns.

Anxiety, low mood and self-esteem

I work with people experiencing anxiety, low mood and difficulties with self-esteem. These can have a big impact on how we see ourselves, how we navigate relationships and how we experience our lives. Therapy can be a place to understand how these experiences have developed, explore their impact and begin to consider what you want to change.
