Integrative Therapy in Newcastle and Online
Sometimes the hardest part is knowing where to start
Therapy offers space to slow down, make sense of what’s happening and understand yourself more clearly. We can look at the patterns in how you think, feel and relate to other people, and explore where these patterns come from and whether they are still working for you.
My approach is grounded in Transactional Analysis (TA), which offers a way of understanding ourselves and our relationships. I’m interested in what shapes the way we respond, the roles we can fall into, and the patterns we can repeat without fully understanding why.
Start Somewhere Counselling & Therapeutic Services
Ponteland, Newcastle
I offer online and in-person therapy for individuals in Ponteland, Newcastle. I work integratively, using TA as the main approach informing my practice and drawing on other therapeutic ideas depending on you and what we’re working on together. I offer a 15 minute call before you start your sessions, for any further information and to get a feel for how I work.
My aim is to offer a space where you can be honest, think things through and feel understood. Together, we can work towards understanding yourself more clearly, recognising patterns and having more choice in how you move forward.
About Me
Charlotte Healy
I’m Charlotte, I have always been curious about people, what makes us who we are, why we respond to things in the ways we do, and how our experiences shape the way we see ourselves and our relationships.
I went into this profession because I wanted to understand these things more deeply. What started as a desire to understand people has grown into wanting to help others understand themselves.
For me, that’s what therapy is about. It’s a space to slow down from the busyness of everything else and make sense of what’s going on for you. To notice your thoughts, emotions and behaviours, recognise patterns and begin to understand where they come from.
We don’t always choose the patterns we develop. Often, they make sense in the context of our experiences and have helped us navigate life in some way. But they can become unhelpful over time, leaving us feeling stuck or finding ourselves responding in ways we don’t fully understand.
I believe that understanding these patterns can give us more choice. Therapy isn’t about me telling you who you are or what you should do. It’s about working together to help you make sense of yourself, so you can decide what you want to keep, what you might want to change and what feels more aligned with who you are.
Outside of work, I enjoy going for walks, reading thriller books, and filling my home with more plants than I probably need.
My Experience
I’ve worked as a therapist across a range of settings, including mindfulness organisations, community-based services, crisis support and workplace wellbeing. These experiences have given me the opportunity to work with people from different backgrounds and with a wide range of experiences and difficulties.
Alongside my therapeutic work, I’m a Programme Lead on a counselling degree with a strong focus on social mobility and widening access to the profession. I value being part of creating opportunities for people from a range of backgrounds to enter counselling and develop their own professional identity.
Supporting students as they learn, grow in confidence and find their own way of working also keeps me curious and reflective about my own practice. I believe ongoing learning is an important part of being a therapist. We’re never finished understanding ourselves, our clients or the work we do.
I am also a MBACP member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) working within their code of ethics and guidance to ensure safe practice with clients.
About the Therapy- How I Work
For me, therapy is relational. I want to get to know you as a person, hear your story and understand what brings you to therapy. I believe connection matters. Feeling genuinely seen, heard and understood is an important part of what makes us feel human and connected.
I work in an integrative way, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs, experiences and what we’re working on together.
My main training is in Transactional Analysis (TA). TA gives us a way of exploring ourselves and our relationships, how we communicate, how we respond to other people and why we can sometimes find ourselves repeating familiar patterns.
You don’t need to come into therapy knowing exactly what you need or having the right words to explain it. We can figure some of that out together.
I want our sessions to be a space where you can be honest and be yourself, whatever that looks like for you. I see my role as creating a relationship built on trust, respect and collaboration, where we can work together towards what really matters to you. I offer sessions in person which are based in Ponteland, or online.
What to Expect
Our first conversation is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to get from our work together. It’s also a chance for you to get a feel for me and how I work, and for us to think about whether we feel like a good fit. From there, we can take things at a pace that feels manageable and work out together how we want to work.
Some sessions might involve exploring something that has happened, noticing a pattern, thinking about a relationship or simply having space to talk about something that feels difficult.
Ultimately, I want therapy to be a place where you can feel understood, become more curious about yourself and have greater choice in how you move forward.
